A3-27E374202/19Crashed 26/06/26, Altona North VIC. Served with 1FTS. Crashed after conducting aerobatic training. According to reports witnesses suggest that the pilot stalled the aircraft, which then dived into the ground at Altona North. Killed was Cdt Aubrey Percival.
A3-28E374302/19Crashed 25/03/25, Point Cook VIC. Served with 1FTS. This Avro 504K, formerly E3743, was another aircraft given to Australia as a part of the Imperial Gift was on approach to land at Point Cook, after a training flight. The aircraft then apparently stalled and spun into a paddock at the rear of the hangers at the airfield. As a result of this crash FLGOFF Mailer has the unfortunate distinction of being the first officer of the RAAF to be killed in the new service. Crew: FLGOFF Stewart E. Mailer (QFI) & FLGOFF Alan M. Charlesworth (student pilot).

The Avro stalled on a training flight and spun into the ground, nose first, from 500ft hear the hangers at Point Cook. While Fryer- Smith suffered a fractured skull and cuts CPL Whicker died of his injuries, later that night at Caufield Military Hospital. He is also the very first airman to die after the Australian Air Force was officially formed on 31 March 1921.
