Resources

This is a partial list of resources for anyone who is interested in either learning more about the 504 or possible build a model of this wonderful plane. I will continue to add material as time allows.

Jonathan Fallon’s wonderful publication on all things early aviation ran several articles on 504’s. Check out his web page for ordering. www.AerodynamicMedia.com
J.M Bruce’s detailed profile of the Avro 504 is very useful to anyone looking to model this great aircraft. Has 3 views and many pictures, some details show.
A number of good and not so good plastic models have been issued of the Avro 504 over the years. Here are a few that I know of.
Merit 1/48th scale kits of the 504 can still be found online for sale. This is the SMER kit reissued.
MPC’s 1/72 scale 504. Its the same as the Airfix kit.
Several eastern European model companies have issued kits of the Russian built version of the 504, the U-1
Highly sought after stick and tissue model of the post WWI Avro 504N with its fixed Siddeley Loyn radial engine. This model was suitable for gas powered free flight or even R/C. And it came with a variety of vacuum formed details like the Lynx engine and under wing gas tanks.
A nice vacuum form Avro 504N kit produced by Expomodel some years ago. You can still find these occasionally on eBay.
Aerodrome Models issued a smaller 504K stick and tissue model a number of years ago. This one appears to be either electric powered or small gas powered.
I believe this is a Fiddlers Green produced Avro 504K paper model for those who enjoy a real challenge. I believe Fiddler Green’s paper model are available on line for download.
